As a company specialising in the re-distribution and re-marketing of electrical goods, during the latter part of 2008 we have been looking at ways to cut our carbon footprint even further. We don’t believe in waste and we currently already compact all of our wasted cardboard and send it off for recycling. The additional costs have been minimal and it has now become part of our everyday business practise.

To go one step further we are now looking to become the first product brand to go 100% Fully Recyclable on our entire range of retail packaging. We have had to look at every aspect of our packaging and find out what environmentally friendly alternatives are available and although it is not a straight forward process, we hope that during 2009 we will be able to distribute products onto the High Street in packaging which can be fully recycled.

Sales Director, Damien Swift believes that this is a possibility “The initial challenge of making the boxes fully recyclable seems straight forward until you look at the kind of inks you cannot use to print on the outside, to the types of adhesives, inserts and product labels that all have no place in the recycling world.”

To help assist the brand, Highpoint Distribution Ltd (The Company behind the Core Value range), have been working closely with Connect Packaging to get valuable advice and to come up with innovative designs that dispense of Polystyrene, Foam, and certain smaller, almost irrelevant items which currently do not have a simple 'green' alternative. Damien Swift says “The guys at Connect are very clever and continue to impress with effective, easy to implement designs which, although there is an initial cost of design, could actually save our business up to 35% on our packaging over a 12 month period”.

We know it is a big challenge, we accept that there will be initial outlay costs and we also know that we will not be able to print glossy and retail friendly boxes which attract the customers eyes. However, at a recent conference with one of our main customer chains (The Cash Convertor Group) all of the shop managers said that they would support us 100% and get behind the whole project. For a retail chain who have branches all over the UK, this is fantastic news for us.
